Jayden Ngwashi has committed his long-term future to Manchester United, as per Fabrizio Romano.

United have made little progress so far in re-shaping Ruben Amorim’s squad on the back of a disastrous campaign.

Matheus Cunha is the only confirmed arrival this summer. At the same time, the Red Devils have not managed to part ways with any of their high-earning outcasts.

However, the club’s director of recruitment Christopher Vivell has made plenty of ambitious moves at the youth level this summer, underlining INEOS’s intent to strengthen the side’s academy as part of their recruitment strategy.

The Mancunians have already beaten PSG to the signing of French prodigy Enzo Kana-Biyik and have also convinced highly-rated JJ Gabriel to stay at Carrington despite interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

Now, Romano is claiming that United have convinced an Italian talent to commit his future to United.

As per the Italian journalist, United have agreed a four-year deal with Ngwashi.

It is claimed the 16-year-old, who has an Italian passport, had proposals from English and European clubs, but he has decided to stay at United.

Ngwashi made his Under-21s debut earlier this year, an impressive feat for a 16-year-old.

The central defender is admired at United for his passing ability and composure.

Over the last 12 months, United have had success recruiting young centre-backs. Leny Yoro, 19, has emerged as one of Ruben Amorim’s most reliable defensive options, and Ayden Heaven, 18, has cemented his place in United’s first-team after leaving Arsenal in January.

With United prioritising addressing their attack this summer, Amorim may rely on the club’s academy to further strengthen his backline. In that regard, Ngwashi might be one to keep an eye on.
