Manchester City make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur tonight looking for a response to recent setbacks.
Pep Guardiola’s side have lost four of their last six games in all competitions, a run that includes Champions League elimination against Real Madrid. At the weekend, City lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool, a result that leaves the champions 20 points from the leaders.
Chelsea’s win over Southampton on Tuesday saw City drop to fifth in the table and Guardiola will hope his side can get back on track tonight. Just five points separates the sides from third to 10th in a competitive chase for Champions League qualification.
City will also be out to avenge a humbling 4-0 loss to Tottenham at the Etihad earlier the campaign. That result was the highlight of an otherwise tough season for Spurs, who are 13th in the table. However, Ange Postecoglou’s men are targeting a fourth consecutive league win after an upturn in form.
The big question mark for City is the fitness of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has missed the last two games with a knee injury and did not make the matchday squad against Liverpool on Sunday. Omar Marmoush should lead the line in Haaland’s absence, after Phil Foden failed to make an impression as a false nine at the weekend.
Ruben Dias is expected to come back into the team at centre-back, though fellow defenders John Stones and Manuel Akanji are out. Rodri and Oscar Bobb are also still on the sidelines for City.
Man City predicted XI: Ederson; Lewis, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Nico, Kovacic; Savinho, Silva, Foden; Marmoush.
Spurs host Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday 26th February 2025. Kick-off in North London is 19:30 GMT.
Tottenham vs Manchester City will be televised on TNT Sports 3 and Discovery+ UK.
