Manchester United are interested in signing two midfielders during the summer transfer window, according to French publication L’Equipe.

The Red Devils recently agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte, but a deal remains complicated due to the asking price.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions are eyeing around £59 million for a permanent transfer, but United are hopeful of negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy.

United are also interested in signing Adrien Rabiot, whose £145,000 per week contract with Juventus expired on June 30.

The World Cup finalist dreams of playing in the Premier League and United are working on a free transfer for him.

The club are hoping to part ways with Scott McTominay and Casemiro to accommodate their arrival.

United eyeing double midfield summer swoop

Ugarte is a holding midfielder by trade. He is superb with the ball at his feet and is also strong when it comes to tackling, duel-winning ability and recoveries.

The 23-year-old is just entering the prime of his career. He should be an upgrade on Casemiro due to his vastly better distribution.

Ugarte should be a fine addition and would be an assured starter alongside Kobbie Mainoo next term.

Rabiot could be used in rotation. The Frenchman can operate from the defensive and central midfield roles, depending on the requirement.

The Frenchman has a knack for making goal contributions, with 25 in the last two seasons at Juventus. This could be a prime reason behind the Red Devils’ fresh interest.

Ten Hag was determined to sign him two years ago. He failed to agree personal terms. With Rabiot now available on a free transfer, United are probably open to meeting his demands.
