Manchester United have bolstered their squad with the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer and there could be more transfer activity in the coming weeks.

A defensive midfielder is one of the priorities for the club and Corriere dello Sport claim that the Red Devils could make a fresh proposal to sign Amrabat from Fiorentina.

Amrabat spent last season on loan at United with an option to buy for £17 million. The club opted against triggering the clause. They are now aiming for another temporary move.

Fiorentina currently value Amrabat at £12.6m. Fenerbahce have made an opening offer worth £8.4m, but they will need to spend much more to convince the Serie A outfit.

Amrabat could return to United this summer

The Red Devils have identified Manuel Ugarte as an option to reinforce the defensive midfield department, but they are yet to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s £59m price tag.

The Uruguayan would be a fine acquisition for the role. He is strong with the ball at his feet and had an impressive passing accuracy of more than 91 percent in Ligue 1 last season.

Ugarte also won 3.9 tackles and 6.4 duels per game with 7.2 recoveries. He would be a quality addition to the squad, but the big question is whether they can afford his signature.

United are eyeing a loan deal with an option to buy, but Les Parisiens may prefer an outright sale, considering their recent outlay to purchase Joao Neves from Benfica.

We won’t be surprised if Amrabat emerges as the back-up target. The Moroccan, who was described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Walid Regragui, has opened the door for a reunion.

Fenerbahce as well as Atletico Madrid seem interested in signing him, but the Utrecht graduate ‘only wants United‘ after their decision to continue with manager Erik ten Hag.
