Luis Diaz makes transfer preference CLEAR as Bayern Munich close in

Liverpool are facing transfer uncertainty over several of their title winners. We could see Ibrahima Konate moved on before the end of the transfer window unless he agrees to a new deal on Liverpool’s terms.

Further upfield, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton are under scrutiny - with West Ham said to be keen on the pair. But perhaps the greatest doubts surround Liverpool’s wing and forward options.

Darwin Nunez coud potentially leave if Napoli or any other suitor comes up with the Reds’ asking price. Back-up wingers like Federico Chiesa and Ben Doak, meanwhile, could be sold in order to generate some additional transfer funds.

But clearly the emerging transfer story for Liverpool over the last few days has been Luis Diaz. Ever since the players returned for pre-season training, more and more stories have appeared linking Diaz with the exit.

Barca and Bayern circle for Diaz

The 28-year-old’s predicament is obvious. He signed a contract back in January 2022 which extends to 2027. He remains on the terms he signed when moving from Porto - said to be in the region of £55k per week.

Liverpool are not prepared to finance a renewal on terms deemed acceptable to Diaz - who in previous negotiations with AC Milan made it known that he was looking for around £140k per week to £150k per week.

So Liverpool have got a decision to make - do they cash in on the Colombia international while his value is high? Or do they give him what he wants?

Barcelona and teams in Saudi Arabia appear keen to add Diaz to the ranks - and could have a chance so long as Liverpool’s demands are met.

Bayern want complicated Diaz deal

Another team who have recently joined the hunt are Bayern Munich. They’ve lost Jamal Musiala to a terrible leg injury and Leroy Sane has moved to Galatasaray. A move for Nico Williams came to nothing and it has led the Bavarians to try for Diaz.

And now according to the latest report in Germany, Diaz has informed Bayern that he IS willing to leave Liverpool under the right conditions.

Diaz makes his move

“Understand Luis Diaz has once again made it clear that he is open to leaving Liverpool if a really exciting offer arrives,” writes Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on X.

“LFC have been informed. However, they have blocked everything so far (FC Bayern, Barcelona, etc.)

“Max Eberl has held new talks with Diaz’s management in recent days. As reported, Bayern remain keen on Diaz. There are still no agreements or offers. It is complicated, but Bayern are trying.”

There are no guarantees that the Reds end up selling Diaz this summer. They are remaining firm on their €80m valuation and Bayern are only reported to be ready to pay €60m plus bonuses for the winger.
