The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to pull the plug on their pursuit of Liverpool star Luis Díaz.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday provided a major update on the situation.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that wide-man Díaz is very much back on the agenda behind the scenes at Barcelona.

This comes after the Blaugrana were left red-faced in their pursuit of first-choice attacking target Nico Williams.

Talks, in turn, have long been reignited with the agent of the Colombian international, with a view to making the move to the Camp Nou for the 2025/26 campaign.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, a deal coming to fruition between the parties is beginning to look increasingly unlikely.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Liverpool have informed the player’s agents that they do not intend to negotiate his transfer in this summer market. And that they would only be willing to sell him without negotiation for a minimum figure of 82 million euros guaranteed.’

With Barcelona having absolutely no intention of forking over such a fee, the Catalans are therefore labelled as ‘close to throwing in the towel’ in their Díaz pursuit.
