Liverpool travel to the French capital for the biggest showdown of Champions League last-16 when they face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
The game will be shown live on TNT Sports 1, kicking off at 8pm (UK time).
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota
Liverpool are set to be without four players for their trip to Paris, two of these being first-team regulars.
While Joe Gomez was expected to return last month, it was announced by Arne Slot that the centre-back had surgery on a hamstring issue and will not be back until some time in May.
Also missing from the Reds’ back line is Conor Bradley. The right-back is still unavailable after he was forced off against Aston Villa two weeks ago.
Tyler Morton is a doubt for the game due to a shoulder issue, while Liverpool academy star Amara Nallo is also technically ineligible for selection. The 18-year-old was sent off just four minutes into his senior debut when he came off the bench against PSV last month.
While Mo Salah has been breaking all sorts of records in the Premier League this season, he hasn’t quite posed the same danger in the Champions League.
Almost all of the winger’s numbers have been worse in Europe, with his goals per 90 more than halving in the competition. In the Premier League, Salah averages 0.91 goals per 90, compared to 0.45 per 90 in the Champions League.
He has also missed more big chances per 90 (0.75 compared to 0.51), created less chances per 90 (1.94 compared to 2.28) and completed less take ons per 90 (0.6 compared to 1.81)
Nevertheless, Salah still tops the goal contributions chart for the Reds, having logged seven in the Champions League this season. He is also their leading goalscorer (three) and assist provider (four) in the competition.
The Egyptian has been effective on Europe’s biggest stage, but is just not the same imperious goal threat that he is in the Premier League.
Considering they’ve done just fine in the Champions League so far without Salah on top of his game, perhaps this may not be a major point of concern for Liverpool, but it is certainly something to look out for.
