Omar Marmoush Ready for Liverpool Move: Talks Underway and Fee Revealed

Liverpool are on the hunt for a new forward, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush has emerged as a prime target. As Steve Pearson of TeamTalk reports, the Egyptian forward has outscored even Harry Kane in the Bundesliga this season, making him a hot commodity. Liverpool’s reported contact with Marmoush’s representatives has only fuelled excitement, with the player eager to move to Anfield if the opportunity arises. Here’s what we know so far.

Omar Marmoush’s Bundesliga Success

Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich, has been phenomenal, scoring eight goals in seven Bundesliga matches. Yet, Marmoush has managed to upstage him with nine goals in the same number of games, proving that he’s no one-season wonder. What stands out most is not just his scoring but his versatility. With four assists to his name, Marmoush has shown that he’s capable of more than just finding the back of the net.

The 25-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have already made contact with the player’s representatives. “The interest is real, and there has already been contact between the player’s camp and Liverpool. Frankfurt are aware of it,” Plettenberg shared on X (formerly Twitter). Marmoush, in turn, is enthusiastic about the possibility, as Plettenberg confirmed, stating, “Marmoush dreams of a move to the Premier League and would immediately agree to join Liverpool.”

Cost of Securing Marmoush

Liverpool fans have reason to be optimistic, but signing Marmoush won’t be straightforward. The player is currently under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2027, and the absence of a release clause means the club holds the upper hand in negotiations. Frankfurt has reportedly set their asking price at between €50m and €60m, a fee that could be driven up if a bidding war ensues.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also monitoring the forward’s situation, and if these clubs join the race, Liverpool will need to be decisive. TEAMtalk’s previous reports have even suggested Marmoush could potentially be a successor to Mohamed Salah. Though he primarily plays centrally as a striker, his versatility allows him to adapt to different attacking roles, including on the left wing.

Future Without Salah? Chelsea Could Threaten

Despite whispers about Marmoush potentially stepping into Salah’s shoes on the right wing, it’s worth noting that he doesn’t naturally fit that role. Instead, he operates best in a central position, either as a striker or slightly deeper, where his pace and control allow him to exploit space between defenders. His adaptability, however, means that he could be moulded to suit various attacking strategies, making him a valuable asset for Liverpool, who might be preparing for life without their Egyptian king.

Chelsea’s interest poses the biggest threat, with Arsenal also in the mix. If the London clubs are serious, they could engage in a bidding war that drives the price up beyond Liverpool’s reach. However, Liverpool has often shown a tendency to strike early in the market, and if they can capitalise on Marmoush’s eagerness to move, this could be another well-executed transfer.

What Liverpool Fans Can Expect

Marmoush has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023. Scoring on his Bundesliga debut for the club, he quickly established himself as a reliable goal scorer, finishing the season with 17 goals—his best tally to date.

His international career also speaks volumes, with the forward playing a crucial role for Egypt in major tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations. Given Liverpool’s need for a dynamic forward who can complement their existing talents, Marmoush appears to be an excellent fit. His background in German football also suggests he’ll adapt quickly to the Premier League, which has seen an influx of Bundesliga talent thrive in recent years.

Marmoush’s dream of playing in England could become a reality if Liverpool push ahead with their negotiations. As Steve Pearson highlighted, “The forward’s existing deal at Frankfurt – that expires in the summer of 2027 – does not contain a release clause. As such, a bidding war between several of the Premier League’s richest clubs could drive up the price.”

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

Liverpool fans have every reason to be excited about the possibility of Marmoush joining the ranks. For years, the club has relied heavily on their established front line, but refreshing the squad has been key to maintaining success, as seen during Arne Slot’s early tenure. Marmoush’s ability to score and assist, combined with his flexibility across attacking positions, would undoubtedly bring a new dynamic to Liverpool’s playstyle.

Considering his age and growth trajectory, Marmoush could develop into a long-term asset for Liverpool. His willingness to immediately join the club is a positive sign, showing that he’s enthusiastic about the project at Anfield. With Salah’s future still uncertain, it’s wise for the club to have contingency plans. Moreover, signing a forward who’s already proven in a major European league could reduce the risk associated with such a move.

However, the competition for his signature will be intense. Chelsea’s involvement means Liverpool must act swiftly and decisively. While €60m is a hefty sum, it reflects Marmoush’s quality and potential. In recent times, Liverpool’s recruitment team has been excellent at identifying players who fit their system, and if Marmoush is on their radar, fans can trust that there’s a solid plan in place.
