Liverpool’s search for a potential Mohamed Salah replacement has taken them far and wide.

Salah’s contract situation has not changed, with the possibility that the Liverpool legend walks away from the club at the end of the season becoming more and more realistic with each passing day.

Eintract Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, and Salah himself has spoken about his fellow Egyptian in glowing terms.

Ben Doak has impressed in recent weeks with some scintillating displays for Scotland which have sparked speculation among Reds fans that he could be ready to step up to the first team when he returns from his loan spell at Middlesborough.

It’s clear that Liverpool need to look to the future regardless of whether Salah ends up moving to Saudi Arabia or not.

At 32, he is approaching the twilight years of his career, although there is a feeling that like Cristiano Ronaldo, Salah has the physique to keep playing well into his late 30s at a high level.

It’s why the thought that Doak could end up being the eventual Salah replacement makes sense. At just 19, if Salah were to stay for another two years, as he is rumoured to want as part of any new contract, it would give Doak the time to learn from him and add the attacking numbers required of any Salah replacement.

It’s also why new links with a player who’s played under new Man United boss Ruben Amorim make plenty of sense as well.

Liverpool interested in Sporting’s Geovany Quenda

At just 17, Geovany Quenda is a raw talent. The Sporting winger has had a breakout season in Portugal, featuring in 11 games so far this season.

It’s a testament to his talent that Amorim trusted him to play 85 minutes in Sporting’s big win over Man City in the Champions League, where he got an assist for one of Viktor Gyokeres’ hattrick goals.

He broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sporting record as youngest league scorer against Famalicão last month, and is the club’s youngest player to start in the Champions League.

Liverpool are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Quenda, according to CaughtOffside.

However, if they are to make an approach, they will be up against Quenda’s former manager and Man United, who are expected to make a bid for him next year - as per Manchester Evening News.

Quenda has a release clause of approximately €100m, and Portuguese clubs are extremely good at selling players for high prices.

No club would part with that kind of money for Quenda unless he turns out to be the second coming of Lionel Messi, so he is likely to move for much less.

His contract is reportedly expiring in 2027, so a move next summer would make sense for Quenda, unless Sporting want to risk losing him on a free transfer.
