According to a report from Marca, Real Madrid have established contact with Ibrahima Konaté (26) over potentially signing the French centre-back from Liverpool. To counteract the interest of the La Liga club, the Reds are planning to offer the France international a new contract at Anfield in the coming days.
The Premier League champions fear that Konaté has already reached an agreement to join Madrid on a free transfer, as per Marca. The 25-year-old’s contract with the Merseyside outfit is set to expire at the end of the season. Liverpool want to avoid a repeat of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation, which saw the England international swap Merseyside for Madrid.
Amid the interest in the former RB Leipzig centre-back’s services, the Premier League club are aiming to bolster their defensive options. Liverpool have established contact to sign Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace and Giovanni Leoni from Parma.
