Lille enter negotiations with Ajax for Branco van den Boomen | OneFootball

According to a report by L’Équipe, Lille OSC have entered negotiations with Ajax for former Toulouse FC midfielder Branco van den Boomen (28), and while no agreement has yet been reached, discussions are thought to be progressing well.

A Dutch source has told the French outlet that Lille could purchase Van den Boomen for around €6 million after Ajax signed the midfielder last summer as a free agent. It’s been further reported that Van den Boomen would welcome a return to France.

Francesco Farioli not convinced by Branco van den Boomen

The midfielder struggled for game time in a difficult season back in his home country (only starting 11 games for his new club although his campaign was curtailed by a knee injury) and understands that he will not be a key figure for the new coach Francesco Farioli.

Lille had also been looking at Stade Brestois’ Pierre Lees-Melou (31) although their interest has since cooled with L’Équipe writing that the transfer was considered to be too complicated for the club to complete.
