The Foxes are on the hunt for a successor to their Dutch manager.

Leicester City are considering Danny Rohl as a potential replacement option for Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

The near-seven-month tenure that the Dutchman had in charge of the Foxes was officially brought to a close on Friday when it was announced that Van Nistelrooy was set to depart the King Power Stadium.

Unable to save Leicester from relegation, and overseeing a side that only scored four goals in the Premier League in the first four months of 2025, the 48-year-old will undoubtedly go down as one of the club's worst ever bosses.

Now the hunt is on for his replacement, and they may have timed their decision perfectly as one of their candidates is edging closer towards leaving his current club.

Danny Rohl on Leicester City managerial watchlist

Wednesday boss Rohl is being looked at by City, according to The Star.

This comes off the back of a report from The Telegraph which suggested that the 36-year-old German was likely to pop up on their radar but hadn't yet. On the contrary, the Sheffield outlet has said that Rohl is already an option that Leicester are monitoring.

It was also said, by The Telegraph, that former Everton boss Sean Dyche isn't being considered for the role.

The former Bayern Munich and German national team assistant is edging closer to leaving Hillsborough after months of trying to find his way out of the club.

He informed the club's hierarchy of his intent to leave in April, but struggled to get any suitors to commit to him because of the multi-million pound compensation clause in his contract, which still has a couple of years left on it.

This may soon be void, though, as he and Wednesday are in talks over a deal that would see him leave the club in some form, as per The Star. This could then alleviate any financial worries around bringing in Rohl.

He has done a fantastic job in his near-90-game run with the club. After a horrendous start to their return to the Championship, Wednesday appointed the first-time boss to help save them from the drop, which he miraculously did thanks to a staggering effort by him and his players in the second-half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Rohl then helped to elevate the club to mid-table in the previous term, but that looks set to be his only full one in charge of the Owls.

Danny Rohl would be a great acquisition for Leicester

There's a reason why so many teams in this country and in his homeland of Germany have considered pursuing Rohl this summer. At such a tender age for a manager, he has already demonstrated that he is one of the top coaches in the English second tier.

Rohl is also used to working in less than perfect circumstances, which will be the case for whoever succeeds Van Nistelrooy. Leicester have a potential points deduction heading their way, plus the threat of many of their top players leaving this summer.
