Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has this week spoken out regarding the possibility of inheriting the club’s famed no.10 jersey for next season.
The subject of Barca’s plans for the club’s 10 shirt has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for some time now.
As much comes amid the understanding that the aforementioned Lamine could be entrusted with the number for next season.
The 16-year-old is widely considered to be the greatest talent produced by La Masia since the most iconic Blaugrana ’10’ of all time, in Lionel Messi.
At present, it is Ansu Fati who holds the squad number at Barcelona.
The Spanish international, however, is fresh off an altogether disappointing loan stint away from the Camp Nou, with Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 10 jersey, as a result, has not been seen by those of a Blaugrana persuasion for some time now.
Speaking during an interview with Onda Cero’s Radioestadio this week, it therefore came as little surprise when Lamine Yamal himself was asked for his take on the situation.
And the Spanish international – currently on duty at Euro 2024 – went on to explain that:
“The number 10 is Ansu Fati’s. If he is not in the team and they offer it to me of course I will accept it, it is a dream for me.”
