After Juventus’ narrow Club World Cup exit at the hands of Real Madrid, the Bianconeri have moved quickly to reboot their summer transfer strategy, with several high-profile incomings and departures shaping up, according to Spazio J, Bianconera News, Tutto Juve, and Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
The major headline is the capture of Jonathan David, who is set to arrive in Turin on a free transfer. The Canadian striker, fresh from his stint at Lille, will undergo his medical on Friday before signing a long-term contract. David, noted for his impressive scoring record—109 goals and 30 assists in 232 matches for Lille, and 35 in 66 for Canada—represents a significant move for Juventus, particularly given his near-pristine injury history, having missed just three games in France due to minor problems.
With the first signing of Damien Comolli’s tenure secured, Juventus are now focused on trimming their squad. Manager Igor Tudor has made clear decisions on several fringe players. Samuel Mbangula, who had been close to a move to Nottingham Forest alongside Timothy Weah before both players turned down the transfer, now looks likely to depart. Monaco, where former Juve midfielder Paul Pogba now features, have expressed interest in the Belgian forward, though Premier League side Bournemouth, as well as Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen, are also monitoring the situation. Despite Mbangula’s contract running through 2028, Juventus are preparing for his exit this window.
The search for more quality in midfield has also seen Juventus target Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand. The Danish international, seen as a possible partner for Douglas Luiz, is drawing strong interest from Turin, although Sporting are reportedly resistant to negotiations at this stage.
Up front, Juventus remain active in the market. According to Bianconera News, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott is among their targets, though the Reds have set a valuation of €58 million. The Premier League club may be open to a deal if a buy-back clause is included, but Juventus could face competition from Inter for the English midfielder.
Meanwhile, as reported by Sky’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bianconeri are also pressing Paris Saint-Germain for a loan extension with an option to buy for Randal Kolo Muani, while former Napoli striker Victor Osimhen remains of interest if a breakthrough with his current club can be achieved.
With significant changes underway, Juventus’ strategy after their Club World Cup disappointment is clear: reinforce the squad with targeted signings and streamline the roster, aiming to close the gap on Europe’s top sides ahead of the new campaign.
