Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan continues to work tirelessly on his recovery from a nasty leg injury.

According to FCInterNews, the Canadian star has returned to on-field training, doing light practice on Monday and Tuesday.

Tajon Buchanan has been out since the 2024 Copa America. He broke his tibia in the build-up to Canada’s quarter-final tie against Venezuela.

After undergoing surgery in July, the 25-year-old was supposed to stay on the sidelines until the second half of the 2024/25 season.

However, Buchanan is eager to return to football fields much sooner.

While the latest addition, Tomas Palacios, has yet to make his first appearance in training, the Canadian is back in action.

Canada manager Jesse Marsch relied heavily on Buchanan during the summer’s tournament in the United States.

But he’ll have to navigate the forthcoming international friendlies against the US and Mexico without the Inter star.

Buchanan’s injury has narrowed Simone Inzaghi’s options on the flanks.

Capable of performing on both wings, he would’ve been an invaluable asset for the Inter boss.

With the versatile defender out, Carlos Augusto and Federico Dimarco are the only alternatives on the left wing.

Inzaghi can count on Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian to cover the opposite flank.

Yet, Buchanan’s swift recovery would be crucial for Inter ahead of the packed fixture schedule.

With the new Champions League format on the horizon, Inzaghi will need all hands on deck.

Inter are eager to defend the Serie A title. At the same time, they want to impress in Europe after last season’s quarter-final last-16 heartbreak.

The Italian powerhouse tried to address Buchanan’s injury in the summer. However, their efforts to land a new wingback didn’t come to fruition.

Therefore, the Canadian’s return to the fold cannot come soon enough.
