Amad Diallo will have the opportunity to commit his long-term future to Manchester United in the coming months, and judging by his comments during pre-season, you’d expect that he’ll jump at the chance.

“Why not stay here all my life?” the 22-year-old responded when asked if he planned to stay beyond his current deal at Old Trafford, which is poised to expire in 2025. United do have the option of triggering an additional 12 months, which they plan to do if fresh terms aren’t agreed by the new year.

A new deal is set to be tabled to Amad soon, according to Manchester Evening News, with INEOS chiefs seemingly keen on tying down the livewire after an impressive end to last season followed by an outstanding start to 2024/2025.

When relaying his statistics for the campaign thus far, StatmanDave deemed Amad United’s ‘most important’ forward. There’s certainly a case to be made for him being the most important in the side as a whole, too.

Why Amad has worked his way to an improved deal

He ranks above all of his teammates for the most touches in the opponent’s penalty area (21), shot-creating actions (15), chances created (10), passes into the box (nine) and final-third tackles (three).

The fact it’s taken this long for Amad to be a regular starter under Erik ten Hag is astounding, but it hasn’t taken him long to showcase what the manager had been missing all the times he was left watching on from the sidelines.
