Hull City are interested in a move for Besiktas goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu if Ivor Pandur does leave the Tigers this summer.
Hull City are heading into the final throws of the transfer window with a few things still up in the air, but the Tigers are planning efficiently for the potential departure of goalkeeper Ivor Pandur - and they reportedly have his replacement lined up in Ersin Destanoglu.
The Tigers have been tipped by many to be strugglers this season after another surprising decision to let Ruben Selles go, albeit his start at Sheffield United may back up Hull owner Acun Ilicali’s decision.
A transfer embargo preventing Hull from spending transfer fees on players has also contributed to the wider view being negative, despite Hull supporters seeming relatively confident about the new campaign.
A 4-2 loss at Ashton Gate against Bristol City this weekend has left Hull sitting firmly in the bottom-half of the Championship table, having managed just one win in their opening four matches, with that one win coming in dramatic, last gasp circumstances against Oxford United.
Hull head into the last day or so of the summer market with a few things still to be decided, but they do appear well set should Pandur indeed leave the club before the close of the window.
According to a report from journalist Barry Cooper for HullLive, Hull City are considering a move for Besiktas goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu.
The possible deal is reported to be a tricky one, though, as Besiktas are said to be demanding a significant loan fee, which Hull cannot pay as a result of those aforementioned transfer restrictions.
Hull boss Semir Jakirovic has even discussed the potential move in an interview with HullLive, albeit he did explain how he was not sure about what may happen.
“You never know, so we have to be ready," Jakirovic said.
"For example, if Ivor will go somewhere – I don’t know where, he’s still with us – we need to have another goalkeeper.
“Everything is up in the air. He’s (Destanoglu) one option, but I don’t know if he will come to us if Ivor goes. I don’t know that.”
Current number one Ivor Pandur has been the subject of interest from plenty of clubs this summer, with HullLive citing interest from Middlesbrough and Leicester City, as well as German iutfit Werder Bremen.
The report does go on to say that talk of a potential swap deal between Boro and Hull involving Pandur and Seny Dieng is wide of the mark, although the Teesside club's keenness to sign the Croatian stopper remains.
Despite their embargo, it has remained a very busy summer for Hull in terms of incoming free transfers and loan deals, after the pre-planned purchases of Gustavo Puerta and Reda Laalaoui right at the start of the window - although they are yet to be registered by the EFL.
Since then, Dillon Phillips, Semi Ajayi, Akin Famewo, Enis Destan, Oli McBurnie, David Akintola and Brandon Williams have all arrived in the East Yorkshire on free transfers.
As well as that, Joel Ndala, John Lundstram and Joe Gelhardt have signed from Manchester City, Trabzonspor and Leeds United on season-long loan deals, respectively.
There has been plenty of intrigue and interest in Hull’s dealings this summer, and it shows no sign of stopping just yet with the goalkeeping merry-go-round now in full swing, too.
Pandur's exit would sting, but Destanoglu looks to be a proven potential replacement, should Hull be allowed to sign the Turk.
