An insight into the reaction of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick to the news of Nico Williams rejecting a move to the club has come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Tot Costa of Catalunya Radio, and confirms, unsurprisingly, that the German has been left hugely disappointed by the outcome of the situation.

Barcelona, of course, are fresh off being dealt something of a hammer blow on the transfer front on Friday.

After reigniting their pursuit of Athletic Club star Nico Williams, and going as far as to find a contract agreement with the winger, the Blaugrana were out of the blue made aware that he had instead signed a new long-term extension in Bilbao.

The news came as nothing short of a shock, forcing Deco and co. into a major reshuffle in their ongoing pursuit of attacking reinforcements.

And as alluded to above, with the dust having now settled on the saga, an insight into how the news of Nico’s decision went down with Hansi Flick has been forthcoming.

As per a report from Tot Costa, Barca’s headmaster was left ‘very disappointed’ on Friday.

Flick is of the opinion that Nico would have fit perfectly in his squad, the ideal addition with a view to next season.

It is also suggested that those closest to the German tactician are of the belief that the Athletic star’s agent was chiefly responsible for the transfer falling through.
