Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens is giving his full priority to a transfer to Chelsea as talks continue between the clubs.
Chelsea saw a £42m bid for Gittens rejected earlier this month but remain interested in signing the 20-year-old this summer.
The West Londoners are keen to bring in a left-sided winger, following Mykhailo Mudryk’s suspension and the conclusion of Jadon Sancho’s loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
Gittens is the top target for Chelsea and the player is keen on the move. Despite interest from rival clubs, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Gittens is ‘not opening doors to other clubs’ after agreeing on a long-term deal with Chelsea.
Discussions are ongoing over the transfer fee for the England u-21 international, who scored 12 times in all competitions last season. Dortmund are understood to value Gittens around £55m, including add-ons.
Gittens previously spent time with Chelsea as a youngster, alongside spells at Reading and Manchester City before his move to Germany in 2020.
He has since made 107 senior appearances for Dortmund, scoring 17 goals. Last season, Gittens led the Bundesliga for successful take-ons and progressive carries per 90 minutes.
The winger is Chelsea’s top target, though alternative options are being considered should a fee not be agreed. Manchester United Alejandro Garnacho is one of several options after initial interest in January. The Argentina international has been told he is free to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Chelsea are also one of several English teams to have enquired about Lyon’s Malick Fofana.
