The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Loeck has spent the last four years playing in the Damallsvenskan with Kristianstads DFF. The player represented the Swedish club on more than 50 occasions domestically while she also briefly played in the early rounds of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The keeper started her career in her native Germany with VfL Wolfsburg. She featured for the She-Wolves at B Team level.
After adding Loeck to her squad, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Melissa Phillips said “We’re really pleased to welcome Melina to the club as our first signing of the January window.
“She’s a young talent and possesses key attributes that will benefit our defence. She brings uniquely different strengths within our squad and will thrive competing with our other goalkeepers.”
Loeck has been brought into Brighton & Hove Albion as a replacement for outgoing goalkeeper Nicky Evrard who recently returned to parent club Chelsea with an injury. The German will battle for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey alongside Sophie Baggaley and Katie Startup in the remainder of the season.
