The race for Europe is heating up. Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United are both chasing the same dream — continental football next season — and Sunday's clash at the Amex could have major implications.
Brighton found a way back to winning ways last weekend. Newcastle, meanwhile, look like a team on a mission.
Joao Pedro serves the final game of his suspension. Kaoru Mitoma is back and pushing to start after two goals off the bench in recent games. Defender Igor is also in contention after a thigh injury. However, Adam Webster (thigh) remains a doubt, and Ferdi Kadioglu, Georginio Rutter, and James Milner are likely out for the season.
Joelinton has flown to Brazil for specialist treatment and is out. Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Hall, and Matt Targett remain sidelined. But there's good news too: Dan Burn and Will Osula, both scorers last weekend, are fit and ready, while Alexander Isak continues to lead the line with lethal form.
Brighton predicted lineup vs Newcastle: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupinan; Baleba, Hinshelwood; Minteh, O'Riley, Mitoma; Welbeck.
Newcastle predicted lineup vs Brighton: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Guimaraes, Tonali, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Barnes.
Two goals in two off the bench. With Pedro suspended, Mitoma’s creativity and pace will be Brighton’s best weapon.
Now on 26 goals for the season. In his current form, there are few more dangerous forwards in Europe.
