Bologna FC 1909 are delighted to announce that Georgios Kyriakopoulos has joined the Club on loan from U.S. Sassuolo until 30 June 2023. The Rossoblù will retain an option to make the deal permanent.

The eighth Greek player in Bologna’s history, Georgios is a left-footed full-back who has already garnered three-and-a-half seasons of experience in Serie A. He is both pacey and technically gifted and is particularly able in attack, most notably driving upfield with the ball at his feet. Thanks to some stunning performances for Sassuolo in the past two years, he has earned a spot with the Greece national team.

After starting his professional career with Asteras Tripoli in the Greek Super League, and even making a few Europa League appearances with the Peloponnesian side, Kyriakopoulos joined the Neroverdi on loan in September 2019. A string of good performances that season then convinced the side from the province of Modena to make the deal permanent. Rotating with Rogerio down the left flank, Georgios quickly became a key player for De Zerbi, who led the Neroverdi to back-to-back eighth-place finishes before Dionisi took over. This season, he has often been deployed further up the pitch as part of Sassuolo’s attacking trio and even scored a stunning volley away at Atalanta.
