Real Madrid are entering a delicate phase with Vinicius Jr’s contract renewal, and club president Florentino Perez is now set to take matters into his own hands.
According to a report from Cadena SER (via SPORT), Perez plans to handle the situation directly, bypassing the Brazilian’s agent entirely in a bid to reach a breakthrough.
Although Vinicius’ current deal runs until 2027, talks around his extension have been ongoing for months. With no urgency from either party, discussions have dragged on with little progress.
Still, the club sees his future as crucial, especially in the context of building a long-term project centred around both Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe.
The situation took a turn recently when reports emerged that Vinicius is demanding a salary package on par with Mbappe’s.
The figure being discussed is reportedly €25 million fixed per year, plus bonuses, which would be a significant increase over the previously discussed €20 million package, including variables.

This request appears to have halted any momentum in negotiations. While the club is not panicking, it is clear they do not want to be strong-armed by Vinicius’ representatives.
With talks hitting a wall, Perez believes the only way forward is to speak directly to the player, cutting through the layers of negotiation and seeking clarity face-to-face.
Real Madrid’s vision is clear that they want Vinicius to stay at the club until 2030 and form a historic duo with Mbappe at the core of their new era.
Despite the salary dispute, the club remains calm. They are aware that Vinicius has repeatedly stated his desire to “make history” at the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, his form has not helped his case. Vinicius’ performances last season were inconsistent, with his influence notably fading during the final months.
While his commitment to Madrid is not in question, the timing of his demands may be complicating matters.
