After playing an influential role in Sporting Lisbon’s title-winning campaign, Viktor Gyokeres will be on the move this summer.
Indeed, the Swede’s scintillating form had already caught the eyes of a host of top European clubs in the first half of the season, so the fact that it continued up to the culmination of 2024/2025 has made him a man in demand this summer.

In regards to his Premier League interest, it’s thought that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been mulling over moves for Gyokeres, whom Tony Mowbray once hailed as the ‘Championship’s Erling Haaland’ during the player’s Coventry City tenure.
Throughout the term, the Sporting talisman has recorded an unfathomable 53 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions. To make matters more interesting for his suitors, Fabrizio Romano claims a deal in the region of £54.6 million all-in ‘can be enough’ for the club to sanction his exit.
It remains to be seen if United will go as far as igniting their pursuit, however.
The Old Trafford faithful’s desire to see INEOS’ chiefs bid for Gyokeres only heightened when Ruben Amorim, who worked with the star in Lisbon, succeeded Erik ten Hag last November.
Yet, there are doubts as to whether he fits the bill of potential acquisitions the new co-owners would sign. First of all, and perhaps the most significant factor, is that he turns 27 next month, and INEOS are keen on prioritising additions under the age of 25 in order to ensure they’re building for the long-term.
That explains why United have been more heavily linked with 22-year-old Liam Delap, who is now available for £30m following Ipswich Town’s relegation to the Championship.
Still, it would undoubtedly pose as a tough pill to swallow for Amorim if he is left watchig Gyokeres flourish for another English outfit, knowing he helped him find his most prolific form in a Sporting shirt.
