FC Barcelona are considering a loan move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho in the final days of the transfer window.

The 24 year old spent half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag in September last year.

It was therefore widely reported that United would try to sell Sancho this summer with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus both interested in the player’s services.

Nonetheless the story took a surprising twist in July when he was welcomed back into first team training and played regularly during United’s pre-season fixtures.

Although, he started on the bench against Manchester City in the Community Shield and did not even make the squad in the first Premier League game of the season, hinting a move away from Old Trafford may still be on the cards.

Catalan outlet Sport claim that Barcelona could now consider a loan move for the English attacker.

They claim that despite United’s insistence on a permanent sale, “some clubs are convinced that he could end up going out on loan” as the end of the window approaches.

Barca’s sporting director, Deco, “is also keeping an eye on this situation because he is a player who, on loan, could be a good deal for FC Barcelona”.

It is mentioned that Sancho’s very high salary would be a problem for the cash-strapped Catalans to overcome but there is an acceptance that his wages “would have to be assumed in full” by them.

La Blaugrana are also keen on a move for United target Federico Chiesa as relayed by The Peoples Person yesterday but they have concerns over his recent injury history.

There is also uncertainty about his inability to recapture his previous form which saw him so highly rated around Europe. Therefore, Sancho has now come back into the picture.

It remains to be seen whether United would be tempted to accept a loan deal unless there was an obligation to buy next summer. If there is no carrot of a guaranteed fee further down the line, they may see little point in losing extra depth on the wing with little time or resources left to replace him.
