Manchester United have lost three out of four games in all competitions this season with question marks being raised about the manager and his methods.

INEOS backed Erik ten Hag in the summer window, significantly strengthening the defence and have now reportedly given the Dutchman four games to spark a turnaround in fortunes or risk getting sacked.

While the back four have not been at their best, Andre Onana was also criticised for his poor shot-stopping against Liverpool in the 0-3 defeat.

The former Ajax star’s questionable technique was on full display as Mohamed Salah scored the Merseyside club’s third of the game.

Onana has not convinced since his arrival

Last season, the Cameroonian did not have the best of starts to his United career, committing quite a few major errors which led to many questioning the decision to let David de Gea go.

While his manager has backed him to prove his worth, quite a few hold a contrarian view and as per Fichajes, the club are also not too sure about the long-term future of Onana.

The outlet has reported that the Red Devils are looking at Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon who has grown in stature over the last few years.

The 27-year-old’s consistent displays have seen him become the No 1 for both club and country, with the Spaniard impressing in the European Championships and the Nations League.

“Unai Simón, Athletic Club’s goalkeeper, has become the target of Manchester United, who are looking to reinforce their goalkeeping department with the Spanish international.

Simon being eyed

“At 27 years old, Simón is living the best moment of his career, consolidating himself as an undisputed starter both for his club and for the Spanish national team.

“His security between the sticks and his great performances have caught the attention of the Old Trafford club , who would be willing to invest a considerable amount to sign him.”

Simon’s current market value stands at €30 million and with a contract until 2029, his club are likely to demand a lot more should United come calling.

Last season, he kept 18 clean sheets for his La Liga outfit while playing a key role as Spain lifted the Euros.
