Cagliari have promoted their Primavera coach, Fabio Pisacane, to the first team, and the former defender will sign a contract until June 2026.

Pisacane is set to become the new Cagliari coach, signing a one-year contract with an option to extend if the Rossoblu secure survival in the 2025-26 season.

Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell me that the deal between the two parties is already done and sealed.

Pisacane has always been the first Cagliari candidate to replace Davide Nicola despite rumours about Ivan Juric and Paolo Vanoli.

Atalanta eventually hired Juric, while Vanoli, a former Torino coach, has never really been in the race for the Cagliari job.

Cagliari’s new project

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini is eager to embark on a new, fresh project, promoting the coach who won the Coppa Italia Primavera in the 2024-25 season.

Pisacane is also a former Cagliari defender who made 153 appearances with the Sardinians.

Cagliari will make their 2025-26 Serie A debut at home against Fiorentina.
