Former AC Milan and Juventus midfielder Massimo Orlando sees Inter Milan as the leading candidate to reclaim the Scudetto.
During an interview with TMW Radio via FCInter1908, the 53-year-old discussed Juventus’ title chances.
Thiago Motta’s men finished the calendar year as the only Serie A team yet to lose a league fixture this season.
However, a high volume of draws significantly derailed Juve’s title hopes.
A 2-2 stalemate against Fiorentina last weekend was their 11th in 18 Serie A games this season.
Therefore, it’s barely surprising they lag nine points adrift of pacesetters Atalanta.
Meanwhile, Inter’s five-game winning league streak has brought them within striking distance of La Dea.
Indeed, only a point separates the two teams, with Simone Inzaghi’s charges boasting a game in hand.
Juventus and Inter will take a short break from their Serie A commitments to participate in the Supercoppa Italiana.
While Juventus may find the trip to Riyadh a welcoming distraction, Inter can’t be happy about hitting the pause button.
Lautaro Martinez returned to the scoresheet in a 3-0 romping of Cagliari last weekend.
It was a timely confidence boost ahead of Thursday’s clash against Atalanta.
However, this trip to the Middle East threatens to hinder Inter’s momentum in Serie A.
As for Juventus, they’ll face off against AC Milan on Friday, with Sergio Conceicao ready for his Rossoneri touchline debut.
On the other hand, Orlando has no doubt who the title favorites are.
Asked whether Juventus already relinquished their Scudetto chances, he replied: “Yes.
“The three teams ahead are unlikely to falter.
“Inter has returned to its Scudetto-winning form, and Napoli and Atalanta – just look at who’s on their benches.
“There’s no room for error, especially considering the others.
“Either Lazio or Fiorentina will be there fighting with you until the end.”
