Everton have Lyon’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Barcelona’s Hector Fort and Norwich’s Kellen Fisher on their radar | OneFootball

Everton have agreed loan terms with Sevilla for Scotland international right-back Nathan Patterson, but want to secure a replacement before he leaves, according to the Daily Mail.

Everton manager David Moyes wants two versatile defenders who can cover at centre-back and full-back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium club.

The Toffees have Lyon’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Barcelona’s Hector Fort and Norwich’s Kellen Fisher as some of the options they are considering.

Everton have also been linked with Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, but Moyes has ruled him out.

Maitland-Niles has impressed in Ligue 1 since leaving England in 2023, with three goals and 12 assists to his name so far.

The 27-year-old former Arsenal star can also play at left-back, on both wings in attack and as a defensive midfielder.

Everton could do with his versatility and huge experience. A return to the Premier League could appeal to him as it could boost his chances of returning to the England national team after all five caps last came in 2020.

Barca could be open to selling Fort as they are contemplating sales to register new signings.

The 19-year-old La Masia graduate is also on the radar of Aston Villa.

Fort played 20 games across all competitions for the La Liga champions last term after featuring in ten games in 2023-24, and he can also play at left-back.

He knows how to retain possession comfortably, pass and move the ball brilliantly from the back to launch an attack, and it is clear to see why Everton are keen.

The 21-year-old Fisher also boasts similar traits to the Barca defender, but getting Norwich to part ways with him could be tricky.

Other defensive targets could emerge in the coming days, but the Toffees have very little time to get deals done with the last stretch of the summer transfer window upon us.
