With the transfer window swinging open earlier this month, Premier League teams will be starting negotiations to bolster their respective squads for the new season.

Manchester United will certainly be one of those teams who will be busy this summer, with plenty of incoming and outgoings expected.

Given that INEOS are working under tighter financial restraints than the club have in previous windows, United will have to offload players to fund new arrivals.

Defenders Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are two first-team stars linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with fellow Premier League side Everton reportedly keen on the duo.

However, according to BBC Sport journalist Shamoon Hafez, the Toffees are no longer interested in signing either of the United men.

Wan-Bissaka is the most likely of the two to secure a transfer in the coming weeks with Turkish giants Galatasaray “close” to adding the right-back to their ranks.

The Englishman has fallen behind Diogo Dalot in the pecking order in Erik ten Hag’s first-team but still offers a specialist role when required. To lose the unique qualities that Wan-Bissaka possesses could be something United regret but given the need for reinforcements across the squad, he could well find himself sacrificed.

Lindelof, on the other had, has taken a back seat in terms of being first choice for United for a few years now and looks happy with his squad role.

United are short on numbers in defence and whether the club could replace Lindelof with someone of his ability for the price he would fetch could prove a challenge.

The Swede is more likely to granted a stay of execution in Manchester and continue to provide back-up to the first choice pairing.

It’s no secret a centre-back is the priority for INEOS in the early stages of the window with a first bid going in for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

United will be hoping to get their business done quickly and effectively having navigated themselves disastrously through the last decade of transfer windows, leaving them languishing behind the leading teams in the Premier League.
