Dutch giants Ajax are ‘aware’ of direct talks between Premier League champions Liverpool and their highly rated defender Jorrel Hato.
After signing Jeremie Frimpong for the right-back position, the Reds are expected to land Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth to offer another option at left-back.
Andrew Robertson could then leave the club, with the Scotland international tipped not to stick around if he becomes second choice on Merseyside.
Centre-back Jarell Quansah is wanted by Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool had already been expected to look for another central defender.
Hato is able to operate both as a left-back and a centre-back, which could well make him a very welcome option for Reds boss Arne Slot.
According to journalist Duncan Castles on the Football Transfers Podcast (1:28), Ajax are ‘aware’ of the fact that Liverpool have indeed established contact with their player.
The Dutch giants look to be taking a relaxed view of the situation, but the message has been sent that a deal for Hato will be an expensive affair.
Whether Liverpool are prepared to spend big money on Hato is unclear, but there also remains doubt over the future of Ibrahima Konate.
He has just a year left on his Liverpool contract and if he does not pen an extension then the English champions could look to sell him.
Liverpool are preparing to complete the big money capture of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and also want a new striker, with Darwin Nunez up for sale.
As such, the transfer window could be a huge one for the Reds in terms of the transfer outlay.
