Brentford are set to pay a club-record fee for Ouattara, who was authorised to travel for a medical on Friday.

Reports suggest that Brentford will pay a £37m fixed fee, plus add-ons, for the Burkina Faso international.

Brentford have been in the market for a right winger following the departure of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, and have identified Ouattara, who scored nine goals in all competitions last season.

Ouattara is keen on a move to Brentford, having been unhappy with his lack of minutes last season.

The 23-year-old started just 21 league games last season, with Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo preferred on the wing.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola had said he would ask the club whether Ouattara would be able to travel with the squad ahead of their game away to Liverpool on Friday night. He will, however, be absent from the Cherries’ squad as he heads to London to complete a medical.

It’s unclear whether Ouattara’s move will have any impact on the future of Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

Keith Andrews confirmed during his pre-match press conference that he had decided to leave Wissa out of Brentford’s matchday squad for their trip to Nottingham Forest this weekend, amidst speculation over his future.

“We’ve made a decision that he’s not [available],” Andrews said of the 28-year-old, who has attracted interest from Newcastle.

Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, has made clear his desire to leave Brentford and believes he was given assurances by the club that he could depart this summer.

Newcastle are weighing up a £35m bid for Wissa after seeing an initial £25m offer rejected by Brentford.

Andrews said he was happy with the makeup of his squad, though he admitted he would ideally want Wissa, who he deemed not to be in the right headspace to play against Forest, to stay at the club.
