Coppa Italia: Inter 2-0 Lazio – Nerazzurri set up Milan derby semi-final | OneFootball

A stunning Marko Arnautovic volley and a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty kick gave Inter a 2-0 win over Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, setting up a Derby della Madonnina in the semifinals.

Inter beat Lazio 2-0 at San Siro in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Tuesday, progressing to the semifinals where they’ll meet city rivals Milan.

Lazio had a couple of excellent chances with Gustav Isaksen in the first half, but Josep Martinez denied the Denmark international twice.

Matteo Darmian suffered a muscle injury midway through the first half and was replaced by Denzel Dumfries.

The Biancocelesti were dangerous with their well-executed counter-attacks, but Inter took the lead minutes before the half-time break with a stunning Marko Arnautovic volley from the edge of the box.

Lazio pushed for the equaliser in the second half, Isaksen had another chance, but once again found Martinez on his way, while Dumfries won an aerial duel with Mattia Zaccagni in front of an empty Inter goal.

Marco Baroni introduced Pedro, Tijjani Noslin and Nuno Tavares after 60 minutes, but Inter doubled their lead a few minutes later.

Ex-Lazio star Joaquin Correa, who had been introduced as a substitute, earned a penalty kick from a Samuel Gigot foul. Calhanoglu, another Inter substitute, found the net by sending Christos Mandas the wrong way.

Inter will meet Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinals, remaining the only Serie A club still involved in three competitions this season.
