After defeating Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last Thursday, Chelsea will be making a short trip to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford. After completing a league double over Spurs, they will be keen to do another double against a London rival.
Ahead of the game, it was confirmed on Saturday that French defender Wesley Fofana will miss the rest of the season after injuring his hamstring. He had also missed Thursday's match. Enzo Maresca's side had won the reverse fixture 2-1 at home last December.
The Spaniard has not had a great time at Chelsea since signing for them. However, Thursday was one of his best games. His passing was top. Apart from the poor attempt to keep out Pape Sarr’s goal, which was ruled out eventually, he did well.
To the surprise of a few Chelsea fans, it was Malo Gusto who started at right back against Tottenham. However, expect Reece James to return against a side where his presence could be more useful for the Blues.
The Englishman had a good match last time. He looked sharp and was on top of everything at the back. He should start once again.
Colwill had a quiet game compared to the rest of his teammates last Thursday. Against Brentford, things might not be that easy. Nevertheless, he should retain his spot for yet another all-Cobham center-back pairing.
One of the most consistent players in the team. He will need to be at his best to stop the home side's attack from the right, especially the dangerous Bryan Mbeumo.
The Ecuadorian had a terrific game in the middle at Stamford Bridge. One of the Blues' top players this season. His tackling and duel-winning ability will be crucial once again.
The Argentine World Cup winner was the difference against Tottenham as he made a super run to head in Cole Palmer's cross for the only goal. His energy in the midfield will be essential once again.
Madueke had to be content with a place on the bench before making his way into the match. He looked energetic in his limited time. His ability to find goals and link up with Cole Palmer will be crucial, and he should start on Sunday.
With injury concerns behind him, Palmer looked like the player fans know he could be against Tottenham, especially with Nicolas Jackson being back. Noni Madueke also returning means Palmer will have his trusted allies in attack again. He got his first goal contribution in over 10 matches and will be keen to get another against Brentford.
The one player who has been one of Chelsea's best attackers during the recent tough time. His energy and pace will be important for Chelsea. Expect him to start on the left on Sunday.
The striker made his long-awaited return and showed quickly why he was missed. His ability to hold up the ball and keep center-backs busy helped Chelsea. He will be looking to get back among the goals on Sunday against the team he scored his last goal against, which was in December.
