There’s plenty going on at Charlton Athletic as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
It’s an important summer for Charlton Athletic as they prepare for the Championship season ahead.
They achieved a place in the second tier at the end of last term, with a play-off final win against Leyton Orient at Wembley Stadium.
Boss Nathan Jones was heavily linked to Cardiff City at the start of the summer, but the Addicks quickly secured his future with a new five-year contract, ensuring he would be the man to lead the side into a new league.
Here, Football League World takes a look at all the latest top stories coming out of The Valley…
Charlton have now completed the signing of former Stockport County forward Tanto Olaofe, following the club's announcement on Wednesday morning.
The pacey forward notched 12 goals and four assists in 51 appearances in all competitions last term, despite not always been a nailed-on starter for the Hatters.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, via his Patreon page, before the deal had been signed, the figure being discussed was around £1.5m.
The Addicks have only just sealed their return to the second tier, but already ambitious manager Jones has his eyes on the next step.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Charlton boss said: "I don't think it's [Premier League] at the back of the mind, it's exactly where the club want to be. And if we didn't strive for that, then why are we doing it?
"We have to be realistic, we have to be structured and we have to have processes in place that enable us to do that. Now, we have done that in the past. We've set in place those processes that enabled the club to get promoted, and this club has done it before.
"We have a fanbase, of course, that is Premier League [standard], but now we have to make sure that we put a team out there that is capable of moving this club forward."
In his ambitious outlook, Jones will certainly be happy with the capture of former Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, announced by the club at the beginning of July, who has experience in the top tier.
Luton swapped places with Charlton in their relegation from the Championship, leaving former Premier League man Kaminski in search of a route out, which he found with the Addicks.
Speaking to Charlton’s official website, Jones said: "I’m very pleased because it’s a wonderful signing. Thomas was outstanding for Luton in the Premier League and he was outstanding last season in the Championship as well.
“For me, he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the division. We wanted to strengthen on all levels and improve every department, and we feel that the signing of Thomas does that."
Alongside the deals for Kaminski and Olaofe, Charlton have also been linked with a move for Barnsley forward Davis Keillor-Dunn, based on a report from the Barnsley Chronicle.
He netted an incredible 18 goals in 45 League One appearances last term, registering five assists too.
The report goes on to state that Middlesbrough are another side in the mix, with no official bids made as of last week.
That could be partly to do with the fact that the Barnsley Chronicle believe Barnsley may be after a fee in the region of £5m, which is potentially why we’ve seen the Addicks switch their focus to the likes of Olaofe.
