Their former forward will play against them next season.
Millwall are set to miss out on a significant sum of money after former player Tanto Olaofe completed his move from Stockport County to Charlton Athletic.
The 25-year-old forward is back in the Championship, two-and-a-half years on from leaving The Den to pursue a permanent journey with Stockport.
There he helped the Hatters reach the League Two play-off final, before helping them win the fourth tier and finish the 23/24 campaign as their leading scorer, before helping to push County up to third in League One in their first season back in the division.
A loss in the play-off semi-final to Leyton Orient prevented Stockport from overcoming their recent play-off woes, but their star forward has now gone and joined the club that went on to win promotion to the Championship at Wembley.
It was reported over the weekend that Nathan Jones' side were nearing the completion of a £1.5 million move for Olaofe, as per Alan Nixon.
He moved to Edgeley Park from Bermondsey in January 2023 as part of a £200,000 deal that also included a clause that entitled Millwall to 45 per cent of the profit made from any future sale of the striker.
Olaofe's move to The Valley means that Stockport will make a reported £1.3 million profit on him, but the Lions won't get as much money as they once thought as a result of the 25-year-old's switch.
Stockport reporter Sam Byrne has said that Millwall's 45 per cent sell-on clause was in place, but County have managed to negotiate with them to bring that number down significantly.
Had the percentage remained the same, the Lions would have stood to earn £585,000 from this deal between the Hatters and the Addicks. Now it is County who hold the significant sell-on clause, as per Byrne, with 40 per cent of any future profits made by Charlton from Olaofe set to head their way.
The 10-goal forward of 24/25 did adapt well to the third tier, but he wasn't the standout striker that he was in County's promotion-winning 2023/24 campaign.
It's a great time for them to be able to invest a significant amount of money into the squad, as they are expected to do, and they have taken amazing steps to maximise what they can earn from him now and in the future.
To have such a weighty sell-on clause in the deal with Charlton and get Millwall to come down on their own percentage of the profits from Olaofe is sensational business for the Hatters.
County boss Dave Challinor can now reinvest the significant amount of funds generated from this deal back into the playing squad, as he looks to go one better with his Hatters side next season, and win promotion to the Championship.
