Celtic, as Champions are given the courtesy of a home match so that the traditional title winning Flag Day ceremonies can take place before the new season kicks off in Paradise. And our Flag Day opponent on Sunday 3 August will be St Mirren, who you will remember almost spoiled the party of Trophy Day until James Forrest’s late goal kick-started the celebrations. It’s a 4.30pm kick-off to accommodate the Sky Sports live broadcast.
On Saturday 3 August Motherwell take on theRangers at Fir Park, again in a later kick-off and the Ibrox club will host the first Glasgow Derby of the season later in the month when Champions Celtic travel to Ibrox on 31 August looking for our first win over that mob in 2025. Get it done Celtic!
Celtic’s first five fixtures are certainly tough so 15 points will be most welcome!
After St Mirren on Flag Day we travel to Pittodrie and an early chance to avenge the Scottish Cup final defeat to Jimmy Thelin’s side on Sunday 10 August. It’s an old fashioned 3pm kick-off at Celtic Park against newly promoted Livingston on Saturday 23 August then it’s theRangers at Ibrox on Sunday 31 August. And then on Saturday 13 September we’re away to Kilmarnock.
Three tough away games to start for the Champions, quelle surprise.
The other two Glasgow Derbies are at Celtic Park on January 3 with the third meeting at Ibrox on 28 February and the post split meeting – if they make the top six – tbc.
Full fixture details are available on the official SPFL website.
