Manchester United succumbed to their 13th defeat of the Premier League season, getting thrashed 0-4 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday.

Manager Erik ten Hag was without Harry Maguire and club captain and top-scorer Bruno Fernandes along with the entire first-choice back four but still, such a scoreline was not anticipated.

It is clear that the Dutchman will not tweak his system even if the world comes crashing down and INEOS need to take a big call now to salvage the remainder of the season.

And it is not only the former Ajax coach who should be moved on as the club should ensure Casemiro leaves at the conclusion of the campaign as well.

Casemiro’s dismal campaign continued

The Brazilian is 32 and a five-time Champions League winner. Of course, he is not a central defender but surely he is experienced enough to handle things at the back with the club in the midst of a full-blown injury crisis.

He was at fault for almost all the goals with the former Real Madrid superstar constantly leaving his post to try and pinch the ball off the opposition players higher up the pitch.

His ploy was to slide in to try and win the ball back and Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise almost dribbled past him at will. Why the coaching staff did not handle the issue only the manager knows.

Casemiro was dribbled past eight times, the most any player has been dribbled past in a single Premier League game all season.

For almost all the goals, the defensive midfielder was not in his position and unnecessary slid in which completely removed him from the equation, making it hard for veteran Jonny Evans to handle everything on his own.

He earned the lowest rating among all United players (5.9) as per Sofascore and it was his error that directly lead to Olise’s second.

While the official statistics say it was only one error that directly led to a goal, he was arguably at fault for three of them.

Summer sale should be agreed

The former Sao Paulo star won only seven out of 17 ground duels and lost possession 16 times. He managed only four long balls out of 12 attempts.

Whether it be in his preferred position or as a centre-back, Casemiro has been a huge disappointment this term. He was arguably the signing of last season, how could he fall off in such spectacular fashion?

Ten Hag’s tactics and injuries have not helped and considering the wages he earns, it is best if both parties move on once the season ends.

A move to Saudi Arabia or even Turkey could work out for Casemiro, who cannot survive in the frenetic pace of the Premier League any longer.
