Stuart Pearce believes Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson would be a great replacement at Newcastle for Alexander Isak if he leaves.
Jackson is expected to leave Chelsea before the end of the window, and he’s fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
The 24-year-old was once again left out of the squad for Friday’s win against West Ham, a game which Delap and Pedro both started.
Chelsea valued Jackson at around £80m this summer, but there’s an acceptance they are unlikely to get that fee as the end of the window draws closer.
The Blues are reportedly open to accepting a loan for Jackson, providing the deal includes a big loan fee, and an obligation to buy.

Jackson is attracting interest from a number of clubs in both the Premier League and Europe, but no offers have come in yet.
Aston Villa are said to be pushing to sign Jackson, whilst Newcastle are also said to have interest, and Pearce thinks the Senegalese would be a great replacement for Isak.
“I can see the sense in moving for Jackson,” he said as cited on X.com.
“He’ll score a certain amount of goals, but there’s more development to come from him.
“I believe if he did hit it off, he could be a great replacement. Jackson is one of those players that we believe is available and would fill the void. So I can see that working.”
Chelsea are also looking to sell Christopher Nkunku, and the Blues need to move the duo on so they can complete deals for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.

Simons and Garnacho are waiting to join the club, but Chelsea first need to create space in the squad, which they are working on.
Aston Villa are latest side to enquire about Nkunku, whilst Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also interested, although both Chelsea and the France international want a permanent transfer.
