The indomitable Sofiane Feghouli still dreams of making a comeback with the Algerian national team.
The 35-year-old midfielder is aiming to play in his final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) during the next edition, set to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Free since the end of his stint with Fatih Karagümrük in July 2024, Sofiane Feghouli has just found a new destination.
The Algerian midfielder surprised everyone by signing with Amanat Baghdad in Iraq. It's a truly unexpected choice for the 35-year-old striker, especially since he was rumored to be heading back home.
A former mainstay of the Algerian national team (82 caps, 19 goals), the Levallois-Perret native has signed a one-year deal with the Iraqi Premier League club.
To convince the ex-Valencia and Galatasaray forward to join, Amanat Baghdad offered him a record annual salary, reportedly close to 200,000 euros.
Before his season as a free agent, Sofiane Feghouli endured a tough campaign with Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey, making 25 appearances, scoring 2 goals, and providing just one assist.
