Bees forward takes huge step towards Old Trafford move as third bid finally arrives
Manchester United have finally submitted an improved third bid for Bryan Mbeumo.
United have already seen two bids knocked back for Mbeumo but are now awaiting a response to their latest offer, which totals £65m up front plus £5m in add-ons.
The third bid matches Brentford's valuation for Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, and is expected to be accepted.
The 25-year-old had been growing increasingly frustrated at the slow progress of negotiations, which started in June, but with their latest offer, United hope to finalise a deal for Mbeumo imminently.
Brentford had initially wanted United to pay more than the £62.5m Matheus Cunha cost earlier in the transfer window.
However, the £55m Newcastle paid for Anthony Elanga and the £52m Arsenal are parting with for Noni Madueke saw Brentford raise their asking price.
After weeks of deliberation, United have now agreed to meet Brentford’s demands. One the offer is accepted, negotiations are expected to conclude swiftly, with Mbeumo keen on a move to Old Trafford.
Newcastle now face a real fight to land Yoane Wissa

Mbeumo's move to United is expected to impact Newcastle United's pursuit of Yoane Wissa, with Brentford determined not to sell both their star forwards this summer.
Newcastle value Wissa at between £30-35m, but Brentford earlier this summer quoted both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest a fee closer to £50m for their all-time Premier League goalscorer.
Brentford are likely to dismiss any offers for Wissa should Mbeumo depart, with the Congolese forward expected to play a big role under new head coach Keith Andrews.
