It was an afternoon to remember as Brentford Women claimed a 6-1 win over Ashmount Leigh in front of a crowd of nearly 5,000 supporters at Gtech Community Stadium.

Goals from Kirsty Matthews, Maddie Phillips, Ellen Wardlaw, Nikki Woods and a Chloe Logie brace gave the Women’s side all three points in the LSE Regional WFL Division One North fixture.

It was a great start from the Women’s side as they took the lead through a delightful goal from Kirsty Matthews. The winger received an inch-perfect pass from Freya Worsley and delivered the opening goal of the game.

The lead was doubled in spectacular fashion as Phillips from just inside her half lobbed Lou Brooks in the Ashmount Leigh net.

A good team move saw Eleanora Cottrell be played in on goal and with her shot trickling towards the net, top scorer Logie was on hand to ensure the ball went in as we were three goals up in 35 minutes of football.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with the Bees on top and in control.

Logie was denied her second as her effort was cleared off the line.

The fourth did come just under 10 minutes into the second period as Woods raced into the box and found the finish calmly slotting underneath the goalkeeper.

It was five just after the hour mark and Logie got her brace, as she converted from the spot after Woods was fouled in the box.

Ashmount Leigh did get a goal back, and it came through second-half substitute Jess Chandler who tapped in at the back post.

There was enough time to score a sixth as Wardlaw took her time, beating the offside trap and placing a finish beyond the keeper’s reach.

That was how the game would end. The win meant Osbourne’s side rose to fourth in the table.

Having already made it to two cup finals, the treble is still on for the Bees, as they look to continue their outstanding run of form.
