Manchester United will hope to climb the Premier League table when they travel to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 4th March at 4pm. This is a bottom-half clash, though Brentford are just two points behind 10th. Man Utd are 10 points off the top half, with just five games left to play.
Man Utd are winless in their past five league games against teams above them in the table. But Brentford only recently ended a long winless run at home.
Bryan Mbeumo has been involved in 24 Premier League goals for Brentford this season, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists. No player has provided more in a single season in the competition for the Bees.
Brentford have bridged the gap between themselves and the top half of the Premier League, now just two points outside. And they’ll be looking to end the season on a high. The Bees are unbeaten in their past three games, with two draws and a win. Two of those results came at home too, including a 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last time out. It ended a run of nine without victory for Brentford at the Gtech, having won seven and drawn one of their first eight home league games.
Man Utd can’t wait for this season to be over. Faltering heavily in the league, all eyes will be on the Europa League for Man Utd. And this game falls in between the two legs of their semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. In the league, Man Utd are now winless in their past four, losing three of those. The only exception was a goalless draw with Manchester City at Old Trafford. They’ve lost each of their past two away games too.
Aaron Hickey and Yunus Konak may be okay by the time this game comes around, but it will be too soon for Igor Thiago. Josh Dasilva has a slim chance of returning before the season is up, while Fabio Carvalho isn’t expected back.
Man Utd will be hoping for positive news surrounding Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven for this game. Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez are out for the season, with Amad Diallo eyeing a potential return before the campaign is up.
Man Utd are unbeaten in their past four Premier League games against Brentford. In fact, the Red Devils have lost just one of their seven league games since Brentford were promoted to the top fight, winning five.
