One former England international believes he is witnessing a Chelsea player play the best football of his time at the club so far.

However, players like Enzo Fernandez are closing in now on being at the club for two years, which is a small milestone for him and for the club.

I remember the buzz around the club when Fernandez signed for Chelsea, the fan base were over the moon. But things didn’t go great for him initially and to be honest, he arrived at Chelsea during a bit of a toxic period at the club.

Fernandez is now starting to play much better and with much more consistency, and former Chelsea player Glen Johnson believes it is his best form since he arrived at the club in January 2023.

‘I think it’s the best I’ve seen Enzo Fernandez play since he’s been at Chelsea and now he looks like a player,’ Johnson said in words picked up by The Metro this week. ‘He’s getting goals, controlling games and that’s what you expect of somebody with his price-tag.

‘He’s their captain, so he must be a good personality around the club. He’s pulling this team in the right direction.

‘There’s a lot of great players in the Premier League, but considering what Cole Palmer does and the way he does it, if he’s not in everybody’s top three, then it would be interesting to see who’s above him. He keeps scoring goals at big moments in big games.’
