Bayern Munich have added Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to their shortlist as their search for a new boss continues, a report has claimed.

After confirming Thomas Tuchel will leave his post at the end of the season, Bayern have been rejected by no fewer than three formal targets, with Ralf Rangnick following both Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann in snubbing a move to the Allianz Arena.

With Bayern now scrambling for a new target, Christian Falk states that club officials have spoken about a move for Ten Hag, whose own future is far from certain.

An underwhelming campaign, coupled with the arrival of new co-owners at United, has seen Ten Hag surrounded by speculation about a possible summer departure from Old Trafford, which could play into Bayern's hands.

Ten Hag does already have some inside knowledge of Bayern, having spent two years as manager of the reserve side between 2013 and 2015.

Coincidentally, outgoing Bayern boss Tuchel has been linked with a move to take Ten Hag's place at United.

Since his departure from Bayern was confirmed - a decision club officials have doubled-down on recently despite the team's progress in the Champions League - Tuchel has been tipped to return to the Premier League, where he may have unfinished business after his abrupt departure from Chelsea.

A return to Stamford Bridge has been suggested but Tuchel is understood to be keen on joining United, although he is not interested in any talks about his future until Bayern's Champions League journey is over.

As of yet, there has been no indication Ten Hag will be sacked by United. The Dutchman has publicly insisted he believes he will still be in charge next season, but rumours suggesting otherwise continue to swirl.
