Barcelona watching closely as Celta Vigo star’s future ‘takes a complete turn’ | OneFootball

Those in the boardroom at Barcelona are unlikely to be overly enthused by the latest word doing the rounds in the media regarding La Liga rivals Celta Vigo.

This comes amid an update surrounding the future of Celestes star Óscar Mingueza.

Just weeks ago, defender Mingueza’s departure from Vigo this summer was considered a given.

Fresh off a starring campaign in 2024/25, the Spaniard was widely reported to have been on the verge of a move to England, with Aston Villa.

Such news came as music to the ears of the aforementioned Barcelona, who maintain a 50% sell-on clause as part of the deal which sent Mingueza to Balaídos back in 2022.

Safe to say, then, that the latest word doing the rounds in the Spanish media will likely mark a source of concern for the Camp Nou hierarchy.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Óscar Mingueza’s future at Celta de Vigo has taken a complete turn. According to journalist Óscar Méndez, there is a possibility that the defender could remain at Celta, which previously seemed almost impossible.’

As of yet, no formal offers for the versatile 26-year-old defender, it is claimed, have landed on Celta’s desks.
