At just 17 years old, the young attacking midfielder impressed with flashes of quality that did not go unnoticed by Hansi Flick, with the youngster scoring a wonder-goal on his unofficial debut.

Renewal in progress

Now, according to Fichajes, Dro’s performance against Vissel Kobe has prompted swift action behind the scenes. Barcelona’s sporting department is now working on a contract extension to secure one of the most promising prospects emerging from La Masia.

The priority is to finalise the 17-year-old’s renewal as soon as possible to ward off growing interest from outside clubs, who are closely monitoring his development and may look to tempt him with difficult-to-refuse offers.

Having progressed steadily through the youth ranks, Dro possesses a technical profile that fits well with the style favoured by Flick.

The youngster’s vision, confidence and versatility on the pitch, and ability to play incisive passes make him a hugely attractive prospect that Barcelona are very excited about.

The player’s camp is also supportive of the renewal, aware that first-team opportunities may arrive sooner than expected if he maintains his current level.

Within the club, there is consensus on the importance of securing the future of a player who could become a key figure in the senior setup soon.

Dro Fernandez’s development will be closely monitored throughout pre-season, and he could become the newest breakout star from La Masia, following in the footsteps of Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Bernal, and Marc Casado.
