In a recent report, AS mentioned that Barcelona have identified Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as a top target for this summer transfer window. It has been stated that the Catalan club are hoping to get a deal done for the Colombia international this off-season.
Diaz had a terrific campaign at the Merseyside club as he managed to put in a lot of productive displays on the left side of Arne Slot’s attack. The Colombian wide player played in 50 matches for the Reds last season, scoring 17 times and earning eight assists in various competitions.
The Barrancas-born talent deserves credit for averaging 2.66 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 42.3% of his attempts on target. Diaz was even excellent when distributing possession in the opposition half after making 84.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).
Diaz is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2027. Hence, Liverpool would be under no pressure to cash in on him in this transfer window.

Diaz is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs out on the flanks. He can use his pace to get to the byline and has got the eye to play a killer pass in the final third.
The Colombia international can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. He can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the left flank. Diaz is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play as a centre-forward if needed.
Diaz remains one of the first names in Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s teamsheet. He has proven himself to be a reliable performer at the Merseyside club over the past couple of years.
At 28, Diaz is still enjoying his prime. Thus, the Reds cannot afford to let a player of his quality leave this summer. Slot would be better off keeping hold of the Colombian wing wizard for the long run as he could help Liverpool challenge for even more trophies in the future.
