Barcelona have received a boost in their pursuit of Denzel Dumfries, as they now have until the end of July to trigger the full-back’s €25 million release clause.
According to SPORT, despite earlier reports suggesting a July 15 deadline, it has come to light that the clause remains valid until July 31. This extended window gives Barça more time to make a final decision.
The Dutch defender has emerged as a strong market opportunity this summer. His current deal at Inter Milan includes a release clause that makes him a very attractive target.
Earning around €4 million gross per season, Dumfries is a financially viable option for Barcelona, provided they can clear enough space within their salary cap.
It is said that Dumfries is open to leaving Inter and is said to prefer a move to Camp Nou over the Premier League. In fact, his agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in contact with Barcelona for weeks.
Despite links with Premier League sides, including Manchester City, they have reportedly ruled out a move for the 29-year-old, choosing to focus on other positions.

Barcelona, on their part, face a major challenge. Before they can finalise any new signing, the club must first offload at least one defender to free up both salary and squad space.
The club’s wage bill continues to be a hurdle, making registration of new players a slow process.
Even with the financial limits in place, Barcelona still view Dumfries as an ideal addition. His price tag, experience, and playing style suit the club’s needs, especially considering their search for a reliable full-back.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, are already preparing for life without him. Reports in Italy say they are in talks with Fiorentina to sign Brazilian full-back Dodo, a player who was once on Barcelona’s radar.
This move further hints that Dumfries’ departure is now only a matter of time, with all signs pointing to a decision in the coming weeks.
