Atlético Madrid eye Aston Villa star as backup Andy Robertson transfer target | OneFootball

The board at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have earmarked a member of the defensive ranks at Premier League outfit Aston Villa as a potential signing for the summer.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Lucas Digne as the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Atlético Madrid are on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back with a view to next season.

Recent days alone have seen the Rojiblancos tipped to launch a move for Liverpool standout Andy Robertson.

In the case of being unable to strike a deal for the Scot, though, Diego Simeone and co. have a backup option in mind, too…

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Atlético Madrid are also considering Lucas Digne as option at left-back if Robertson deal doesn’t happen. Atléti only want to pay small fee or get Robertson deal done on free transfer; Digne’s also on the shortlist.’
